Innovative Approaches to Skin Regeneration Using Helichrysum italicum Extracts

Diletta Serra is a biologist working in cellular biology and biotechnology applied to regenerative medicine.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and subsequently her master’s degree in Health, Medical, and Veterinary Biotechnology from the University of Sassari, graduating with a score of 110/110 cum laude and honors.
In 2025, she obtained her PhD in Biology and Genetics from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the same university, with a thesis focused on the study of natural extracts and nanomaterials as innovative approaches to counteract skin aging and promote wound healing.
Her scientific activity mainly focuses on tissue regeneration processes, the interaction between natural compounds and biomaterials, and the use of dynamic cell culture models for studying skin aging and repair.
During her research career, she also completed training periods abroad, including a stay at the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering in Germany. In parallel with her research activities, she is involved in teaching and academic support.
She is a subject expert in the field of biology and collaborates in the teaching activities of degree programs in the medical and health sciences at the University of Sassari, participating in examination sessions and laboratory classes. She has also held positions as a university tutor.
