Spotlight on Helichrysum gymnocephalum: an emerging superstar for the respiratory sphere

Olivier Behra started to work on essential oils in Madagascar in the mid 1990's as he saw the exceptional potential on the island of Madagascar to produce high quality extracts and at the same time promote productions that could help to alleviate poverty and motivate environmental and biodiversity conservation.
He directed long-term research work on chemical variation, properties and sustainable management different essential oils (Ravensara aromatica, Psiadia altissima, Cinnamosma fragrans...) with different national and international research institutions while at the same time launched experimental protected areas based on local community involvement into essential oil production and forest conservation.
This was done simultaneously with the development of a social business of quality control and export that has been given to the non profit organisation he founded.
