The effects of lavender oil aromatherapy on the quality of life of fibromyalgia patients.

Hülya Kayhan is a specialist pharmacist and one of the pioneering figures in medical aromatherapy and phytotherapy in Turkey.
With a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences, she graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy and later completed her master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Technology at King’s College London, where her interest in integrating clinical pharmacy with aromatherapy and botanical medicine deepened.
Over the past two decades, Kayhan has dedicated her career to bridging traditional wisdom with modern, evidence-based science. Inspired by Ibn Sina’s medical philosophy, she has focused on the therapeutic use of Ecocert-certified organic essential and fixed oils, preserving their natural integrity while validating their effects through rigorous scientific research.
Her work has resulted in more than 23 international scientific publications and presentations at over 100 global congresses, particularly in the fields of aromatherapy, probiotics, wound care, and microbiota health.
Kayhan is also recognised for her strong innovation portfolio. She has developed over 400 formulations, identified 25 indigenous probiotic strains, and holds multiple patents, including pioneering work on “probiotic in oils” technology. Several of her patented projects have been licensed as official technopark initiatives and awarded national and international honours, including a gold medal from the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
As the founder of Art de Huile and Artue, she has played a key role in establishing medical aromatherapy as a respected scientific discipline in Turkey.

Today, Hülya Kayhan continues to educate pharmacists, physicians, and healthcare professionals through accredited trainings, conferences, and clinical collaborations, while actively contributing to research that expands the global understanding of integrative and preventive healthcare.
